Many people ask us all the time what is it like living on a boat full time? How can you stand not having big rooms, a yard and other things that a house offers? To us we wouldn't have it any other way; we don't want to have a big house again, a large yard to mow, and the other chores that come with owning a house. At least not at this time we're not ready to move back on land.
Living on a boat is like living in a small apartment. You may have different cabins in the boat that will give you extra privacy. There may be doors on the different rooms. The bathroom will have a door. You may even have a shower in the bathroom that you can take a shower. Yes you will have hot water.
The kitchen may be fully equipped. The stove, refrigerator, microwave or convection oven will be installed. While they may not be full size they will be adequate for most people.
After all if you are on a boat you will most likely be outside grilling. But when you want to cook inside you will be able to. Some boats even have apartment size washer and dryer to make it more convenient for you. When tied up to a dock you will have full power and electric and water. You can get Cable TV in many of the marinas and along with that get high speed Internet. Of course you can always get satellite television hooked up and that can move along with you when you move from one marina to the next. Some people change marina's about twice a year, staying where the weather is warmer, going North for the Summer months, and South for the Winter months. While many boats will have central heat and air conditioning to keep us comfortable, we choose to live life on the outside and go with the warmer weather. That's a good thing about having a boat or an RV you can easily move with the weather. You are not tied to one place.
Sleeping on a boat will be some of the best sleep that you will have. The gentle rocking of the boat will rock you to sleep and if the windows are opened, you will have clean fresh air that will cleanse the body and get you totally relaxed.
Living on a boat is really no different than living in a small apartment you will have plenty of space and while the boat may not be the conventional way to live it will be very exciting. When you wake up in the morning and see the water around you, you may feel like you are on vacation each day.
